How do I do Self Care?
5 Health Habits that are Making Women Happier in themselves and more confident.
1. Offloading Worries - Sitting in a Women's Circle or Social support
Incorporating self-care practices into daily life is crucial for nurturing a positive relationship with oneself and promoting emotional well-being. Self-care can take many forms, such as taking time for hobbies, spending quality time with loved ones, practicing gratitude, and setting boundaries to protect personal time and energy. Engaging in activities that bring joy, relaxation, and fulfilment can boost self-esteem and confidence. By prioritising self-care, women can cultivate a greater sense of self-worth, resilience, and inner contentment. If you are looking for a neutral and safe space to interact with other women, I highly recommend Sofia Women's Circles on Sydney's Northern Beaches for their nurturing approach.
2. Regular Exercise
Engaging in regular physical activity is not only beneficial for physical health but also for mental well-being. Exercise releases endorphins, which are neurotransmitters that promote feelings of happiness and reduce stress. Additionally, regular exercise can improve self-esteem and body image by promoting a sense of accomplishment and strength. Whether it's through yoga, running, dancing, or any other form of exercise, finding activities that you enjoy and incorporating them into your routine can boost mood and confidence. Check out Studio 5 in Mona Vale here for their Women's Dance and Yoga classes. Â
Studio 5 and I are running Mini-retreats combining Yoga and Acupuncture for seasonal attunement. Our Winter event is booked out on August 24th. To join the waitlist you can opt in here with the pop up prompt.Â
3. Mindfulness and Meditation
Practicing mindfulness and meditation can help women cultivate a greater sense of self-awareness, inner peace, and resilience. Mindfulness involves paying attention to the present moment without judgment, which can reduce anxiety and rumination about the past or future. Meditation techniques, such as focused breathing or body scans, can promote relaxation and emotional balance. By incorporating mindfulness practices into daily life, women can enhance their overall well-being and confidence in handling life's challenges. My go to for myself and clients are apps such as Calm or Insight Timer for some guided meditations of any length.
4. Healthy Eating Habits
Fuelling the body with nutritious foods can have a significant impact on mood, energy levels, and overall health. By nourishing the body with wholesome foods, women can feel more energised, vibrant, and confident in their appearance and health. Rather than give you vague advice, finding a really great Nutritionist or Naturopath can be a great ally on your team.
I love the approach of the team at Ahara Health on the Northern Beaches of Sydney for women of all ages, especially preconception. care, pregnancy or post partum care and beyond into perimenopause. They have a strong focus on Women's health.
5. Quality Sleep
Prioritising quality sleep is essential for both physical and mental health. Adequate sleep allows the body to rest and repair itself, while also supporting cognitive function and emotional well-being. Lack of sleep can lead to mood disturbances, irritability, and decreased resilience to stress. Establishing a regular sleep schedule, creating a relaxing bedtime routine, and creating a comfortable sleep environment can promote better sleep quality. By getting enough restorative sleep, women can feel more refreshed, alert, and confident in facing the day ahead. To reset your nervous system, I'm passionate about supporting women with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. I've been in private practice for 22 years and getting sleep better is a common theme for exhausted and busy women. Read more about how I work here.
